GEIC is an international conference for practitioners, researchers, teachers interested in global education, international communication, and foreign and second language teaching,

to exchange opinions and ideas, talk about experiences, present research work.

Reflecting the growth of global education programs in universities as well as high schools, GEIC proposes to those implied or interested in global education, international communication programs, foreign and second language teaching to be a forum to exchange opinions and ideas, to talk about experiences and concerns, and to present research work.
In the conference, you are welcome to present and listen to work exploring all facets of global education, such as Model United Nations, (MUN), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), International Baccalaureate (IB), Study Abroad programs, High school-University collaborative programs. After the conference, selected papers will be published in a volume of the collection "GEIC working papers".

GEIC will be held in the support of the JSPS Research Grant KAKENHI (Grant Number: 18H00684).

    Call for papers   

Theme for GEIC 2018: "Learners' profile"

 


Deadline for submission of proposals: 28 October 2018
The theme of the first GEIC conference is "Learners' profile". This theme, classic in second language acquisition research, needs to be updated according to new trends of global education. It proposes to deal with the following topics (but not limited to):

- career path after global education
- MUN participants profile
- IB students for global education
- motivational aspects through students' voice
- academic levels
- professional background of graduate exchange students
- types of teaching and learning (PBL, active learning)
- Interuniversity and/or transacademic collaboration
- needs analysis for students of global education
- case study such as students of long-life study
- discourse style and learner's profile

Scholars, instructors or PhD candidates, you are welcome to send your proposal with a title of paper, your name(s), affiliation, email address, abstract (up to 200 words for a 20-min talk). Deadline for submission of proposals: 28 October 2018, midnight. Selected authors will be notified by 4 November 2018.

Participants have the possibility to observe TEMUN (Tsukuba English Model United Nations)
which is held in parallel on 7-9 December (for more information, see: http://temun-gnp.wixsite.com/temun-2018/information).

Post-conference schedule (tentative)
The selected authors accepted for publication will be notified by email by the middle of December 2018. After one month and half (around the end of January 2019), they have to submit the final version of papers (publication date: expected to on 1st March 2019).
